A Coastal Curation
The small coastal village of Pennan is most famous for being the main location in the film Local Hero. The film was produced over 30 years ago and was relative to the area at the time, as this was when the Oil Industry was booming in the North East of Scotland. The storyline is as follows, An American oil exec was sent to Scotland to buy an entire village and change it, and the surrounding land into an oil refinery. After spending time in the village the oil exec started to feel conflicted when he got to know the locals and the surrounding area….the film is well worth a look and we won’t spoil the ending.
